Stop diluting our culture people. These are very old Somali names and nothing to do with Arabs. The qabiil Saleebaan has nothing to do with the name Suleyman aka Somalized Saleban (btw do non-Hawiyes change Suleyman to Saleban as well?)

I like the Salman version...
Suleiman...I think the root word (in Arabic) is Sa-la-M...which means peace...
Sacad, Saeed, Sacdoun, Suad, Mos'ad, etc...all these versions comes down to the meaning of happy in Arabic.

Sulaymaan is not an Arabic name according to Nahw, its cajam (foreign tongue) but most likely from the Hebrew's. But it's also Islamic name because Sulaymaan was a Prophet. Don't you know the Saleebaan clan are called Reer Xaaji Saleebaan? Legend has it they use to be culumo and many of their offspring were big sheikhs in the past century like Boqolsoon (aun). Sacad Siciid however, is definitely Arabic. Saciid means joy or happiness if i'm not wrong. Saleebaan is the old Afsoomaali suugaan-inspired version of Sulaymaan.

Yes, they do.It is not specific to Hawiye.
My name is also a victim of a Somalified alteration.

if you want to know the name is arabic or not see the origanal of the name.
if it is arabic name it has verb -fi3il- i.e mohammed, ahmed, mahmoud etc. Derivative from the verb hamida and so on.

I wouldn't argue with you if you say Fardoos is an 3ajami name. But I do differ with you on this.
Most of the rusl mentioned to us were not arabs, I agree, but how would you know the arabs didn't as well use bani-ishaaq's names afterall they are two branches from the same tree.
anyways, what does solieman mean?

some says sulaiman is the tasgheer of arabic name salman. but most of ahl nahw disagree.
and if you look to arabs before islam you wouldn't find someone with with the sulaiman or other rusl names.
some claim ADAM, NOUH and some other rusuls names are arabic. but the only arabic rusul names are MOHAMMED, SALAH and SHUIAB.
about firdous it is not arabic name for ppl. only somalis use it as a female name.
