You are being too critical of them. These people were the same guys who were opening up the schools, starting up malcaamads, maintaining and funding the hospitals, offering some sort of services to the average Somali during the war when there was no government in place and they continue doing it now. They are not scam artists. They have done a lot for the poor for Somalia.

Allah (swt) knows best....whomsoever spent their wealth aiding the poor shall surely gain his/her reward.
Likewise.....those whom profited upon the misery of others shall reap what they have sown.
