He's a talented orator, but I don't know, he seems changed lately. If he's worth $3 millions, it can only be that he's funded by the Gulf and probably the West. He must be a sheikh/iman for hire.

The biggest Somali mosque in my city was established in 2001. The Somali community rented an old warehouse and they've been fundraising ever since. First they told us they want to buy the premises, then they said they want build a purpose built mosque not far from the warehouse we still call 'Masjid'. Long story short, nothing has changed in those 12 years apart from the carpet of course, lacagta maqan is in the region of £2million ($3.2million).

Sxb in terms of shuyukh, reer waqooyi(gudabursi, isaaq) also have many sheikhs. But none beats hutus in shuyukhdom.

i dont know in the west but here where im imaams/ mo'adins, they are government employee, ministry of owqaaf and islamic affairs. mostly, are none local and thry really paid very little. government give them house close to the masjid.

the other hands higher level of sheikhs / qura'a/ insprirational, motivational speakers, such as, qaradawi, omar alkafi, sudysi, alensi, almoshari , those are millionaires and wealthy.
