Interesting points Starkast, thanks for the postive feedback. Also what do you have mind for the Somali Coins?STARKAST wrote:Aideed wasn't a suggestion its on the black list for eternity. Insigne has a point, don't forget ever when your conversing with me.
Barre should be left off for political reasons, his status is already ingrained on the Somali mind and imagination. A status no other Somali has.
Another suggestion is that Fakr ad-Din Mosque should replace the current Masjidka Isbaheysiga with Al-Mnara Tower of the Abdulaziz Mosque/ Arba Rucun Mosque/Ithna Asheri Mosque featuring some where on the notes.
arkin & Shanlo Koob Salliga-miiska Fandhaal kal Mooye JugDhiil Dabqaad etc can be under consideration too.
Highlighting the the span of Somali heritage should be of profound importance, most non-Somalis because of the last 20 years actually believe Somalia is a wasteland, even Young Somalis think this actually.

I think there should be some wildlife and domesticated animals on the banknotes.

Fortunately Somali coinage was in plentiful supply (before the war and inflation) and in the past has depicted a wide range of wild life and figures.
The highlight of this range was Big 5.
Original dervish that's too common. The big 5 is more special. We need to attract tourists. Kenya and Tanzania has taken our share.

The horse has enormous cultural significance in Somali society.
Particularly in the north and Ogaden regions.

If the Fares gets a show then what about the Geel ?
that animal is on the Somali passport ID page, a pretty high status.
Everyone values the horse the world values it, we need something more Somali, more ethnocentric.
Btw its Somali Galbeed not Ogaden we aren't Habeshas.

The Geel should be both in one of the Bank Notes ( along with Nomads/Somali sheep) and one of the coins.
I was always curious on why the Leopard was in the Somali coats of arms when Camels plays a bigger role in our culture.
Coins should be
1
2
5
10
20
50
1 Shilling
2 Shilling
Animals such as Camel, Somali Horse, Somali Black Sheep, Somali wild ass, Speke's Gazelle, Gerenuk
Geography places such as Galgodon Highlands, Rivers, Bajuuni Islands, etc...

However i think some martyrs should be on the note and greater examples of Somali architecture and geography as well as aspects of Somali Irredentism.
