Because there was nothing to destroy to begin with. It was the least developed region. Due to the south being the mekka for us ever since independence.

We put everything we owned plus some in the south. There were more puntland mayors in the south than actually in puntland..

Stop lying.......the road from Garowe to the newly built Bossaso port was completed 2 years before the collapse of the Somali state.
The road linked all the towns and villages with each other and the port.
Without this vital infrastructure the region would be a rural backwater...eg Sanaag.

Somaliland had one port and one runway. Don't act like it recieved major infrastructure development. In fact that was one of the reasons for civil war, that SL was significantly under-developed.

All of Somalia is severely underdeveloped Puntland is not alone in requiring basic infrastructure. SL, Xamar, Djibouti are all equally shitholes.

Somalia needs around $250B to be developed. Tens of billions more every decade to maintain it

Half of that would go towards infrastructure.

We have a long way to go. We need the Chinese and Turks to do it for us. Let them have some resources in return

Obviously the best solution would be to sell the resources on the open market, then offer infrastructure projects for tender.
However, Somalia is too corrupt. The money would end up in a Swiss bank account.This way at least we'll be left with roads, railways, ports, etc.

Look at the deal Congo signed with China.

congo is huge rich country, but look at their annual budget. i feel sorry for them walaahi. djibouti annual budget is half a billion while somaliland budget is almost quarter billion with no debt at all. i never thought countries like congo could be this poor. 68 million people is too big for just 5.69 annual budget.
