but from what I heard Somalia at the end of the day will have to recognize Somaliland as Ethiopia did Eritrea because truth be told no African country will do it first because you will be opening up a pandora's box for new ethnic groups who would want their own states.

It's something that I constantly see. Anyway I had to say that to this curious poor girl cause she's expecting a proper answer which she'll never get. In reality this topic bores me to death tbh. Btw Its likely if Somaliland will ever be recognised, the international community will likely propose that the disputed areas be given a right for a referendum to choose which ever side they want as we've seen in places like South Sudan although the situation there albeit is a little different.
