Sufism should be promoted to combat this plague and further isolate them. They are the muslim version of the Pharisees.

Odaygan asaasaqay maxaa Muslimiinta daba dhigay. This should be a discussion between Muslims, you have ulterior motives everybody knows that old man.
I'm saddened by what's happening in my hometown. Our local Islam is being threatened, our traditional scholars are being sidelined and told that's because they haven't subscribed to the latest sect on the block. All Muslims should stick to mainstream Islam {i.e the majority} and shun these sects, nothing good ever comes out of extremist beliefs ..it either leads to an infatuation with Al Shabab style movements or turns you {after an epic burnout} to a raging atheist ..case in point Xplaya.
Saudi Arabia is grappling with an atheism epidemic..okay maybe not yet an epidemic but their numbers are growing. There is a huge liberal movement which is always locking horns with the ultra conservative nomads. We don't want the same problems to surface in Somalia...enough wars and animosity. We should oppose any extremists who try to import divisive religious politics and make us splinter off into liberal or conservative opposing camps like what's happening in Saudi Arabia. We are largely a moderate, tolerant yet traditional society not given to excesses in our religion & long may it stay that way.

The Saudis version of Islam is dangerous which is why they export it to every country besides their own. The people in Somaliland have so far managed to balance their believes with what the country expects from each citizen. However, the more Saudi trained clerics we import to Somaliland the more trouble we store for the future which in the end will lead Somaliland towards a path of conflicts between moderates and fundamentalist just like Somalia.

It won't make much difference how many sects are in West Burco or East Burco - Sheikh Cali Warsame's hometown, because at the end of the day
clan identity is stronger. That is the reality. Hargeisa is too liberal, sect wars are the least worries of Somaliland.

I don't care about this Islam of yours practice it in your own back yard , what am concerned about is my province no Muslim have more right then me when it comes to where I was born , Togdheer isn't Saudi Arabia. So anybody who is trying to shape Togdheer into Najd or Xijaaz will be resisted and should be resisted . Arabs and their fanaticism have brought nothing but death and destruction and deviancy in places their culture and creed have conqured

For sure! Somalis were always people of tasawwuf. I find it odd that in these "enlightened times" we have the audacity to say all our forefathers had it wrong & were misguided and now after more than 1000 years of islam in somali lands the real islam has reached us ie salafism.(within the last 40 years)LiquidHYDROGEN wrote:Sufism should be promoted to combat this plague and further isolate them. Btw it's well known what salafism has done to communites, familys, and even countries. It's chasing people away from the religion in droves..

Without sufis, Somalia and countries like indonesia and malaysia would not be muslim. This imported saudi filth is more concerned about the length of a khamis than it is about finding cures to diseases. It must be rooted out. It is as odious as it is intellectually vacuous.

Walaal hoobariiska wixii aad ka hadashay wa dhab, laakiin wa inaad ogaatid sufism inaysan firqo ahayn. Wa culuum amba cilmi oo dadka uu bara sidi qalbiga lo nadiifin lahaa. Calaashan qof hadu uu leyahay qalbi nadiif oo aanan ku jirin nifaaq, xasadnimo etc wala odhan kara waa qof suufi ah. Suufi micno ahaan wa Saafi(pure) Taarikheeduna wa cad tahay, Sufism wa cilmi iyo wa wax jiray....Salafism meeshi ay ku dhashay iyo kuwii abuuray wala ogyahay.
