YouTube prankster posts 'arrest' selfie from back of a police car after being mobbed by fans






An American YouTube filmmaker had to be rescued by police after being mobbed by hundreds of fans at a “meet and greet” event in Marble Arch at the weekend.

Adam Saleh, 21, whose weekly videos attract around 25,000 viewers, tweeted a picture of himself in the back of a patrol car saying he had been “arrested” by London police.

Scotland Yard said officers had been called to a large crowd of mostly teenage girls which had been advertised on social media and found a 21-year-old man “unable to leave” the area.

He was escorted away for his one safety, police said.

Later police were called to a hotel in South Kensington where a large group of young people had gathered in the street and tried to force their way inside.

Saleh and fellow YouTube star Sheikh Akbar, who run a video log called TrueStory ASA, were surrounded by hundreds of fans after invitiing followers to meet up in a corner of Hyde Park at 3pm yesterday.

The Brooklyn pair, whose videos include Meet a Muslim Person and Ferrari pick up prank, which recorded almost 11 million views, had to be escorted from the area when the event got out of control.

Saleh tweeted to his 85,000 followers : “London police arrested me! You guys are crazy! Please be safe ! “

Then later he posted: “I apologize for all the commotion and if anyone got hurt! still at the police station! Gonna sort out something later! LOVE YOU X”

One follower tweeted a picture of Saleh being escorted by police with the caption : “Look at how Adam's t-shirt is halfway up his chest and his hairs messed up, they were mobbed.”

Another said : “They're not even there yet and there's already police, ambulances, riots watch these fools end up on the news for shutting down Hyde Park.”

A Scotland Yard spokesman said : “Police were called at approximately 3.15pm on Sunday to Marble Arch following reports of a large gathering of people after an event was advertised on social media.

“Officers attended and found a 21-year-old man unable to leave The Palazzo area. He was escorted safely away by police and taken to a central London police station where he was offered advice regarding organising large-scale events. He was not arrested. “

The spokesman added: “Police were called at 5.45pm on Sunday to a hotel on Harrington Gardens after a large crowd attended and tried to gain entrance.

“Officers remained on scene and assisted hotel security. The crowds dispersed at about 7.40pm. There were no arrests.”
