Why are Somalis obsessed with having names?

Texas and California were both and could have remained independent countries to this day but they were smart enough to join something bigger.

They had an ideology similar to “All for one and one for all.

You can bet that they would be like Mexico right now if they chose to separate themselves but they didn't!

they are now also part of a country which almost controls the world in many things including entertainment, sports , politics and many other things good/bad.

Somalis could do this unity thing and it is almost guaranteed that it would work. Due to their small population and their many resources.

I see this union as a good idea. It's gonna solve a lot of Djibouti's problem.

but if you'd rather have a name than a strong country then more power to you.

Thats the hooyoo flag.

It stand for onenese and unity a bit like the tawheed that is all about the onenese and unity of Allah.
the only difference is that this flag stood for the onenese and unity of SOMALI.
It stand for Somali.
It stand for hope, because thats the foundation of that flag.

Every other flag in the whole of somalia stand for something but none can measure up to the blue and white star.
Since its general somalis we are talking about here , That flag should be changed to something Woqoyi people and Djiboutians agree on. Because majority of them wouldn't want that flag to represent them.

it should be a mixture of this :djibouti: this :som: and this :sland:

The blue flag should never be changed. What an insult and borderline blasphemy.

Maybe you need to go back to how that flag came about.
What were the circumstances that led to the creation of the blue flag.

I am reer djibouti who's flag is the djibouti flag.
But as a reer djibouti i also lay claim to the blue flag because its also my flag.

The white star represent the five somali la kala go'yeey so i know one of the five corners of the star is mine.djibouti.

Again the blue flag is the hooyo flag and none can say anything about it.

people need to find a place to lay their cuqdad to rest.
The blue flag never harmed anyone nor was it responsible for any of the wrong doings that took place in somalia.
The blue flag is above qabyaalad and petty grievances.

My statement is fact and everyone with an ounce of honest bone in him will agree.

But not agreeing with my statement will not change the facts.

Forget others, do you agree?

see this is why I think it should be changed. People should be dying for their flags honor not wiping their feet with it.

and im sure many people like him don't like the flag so why force it down their throats?

Your idea will never become a reality until we overcome our need for power.

In the song ...kursiga= power, to rule. Madax weyne madax weyne kol ii dhahayee= we all want to be recognized as the ruler. Until we change this ..your idea of unity and a centralized government is gonna be nothing but a figment of your imagination.

visious wrote:I had this wild Idea today.

this will be a country called U.S.S

U.S.S will have 19 states

- Lower Jubba
- Mid. Jubba
- Lower Shabelle
- Mid. Shabelle
- Gedo
- Bai
- Bakool
- Banaadir
- Hiraan
- Mudug
- Galguduud
- Nugaal
- Bari
- Sool
- Sanaag
- Togdheer
- Woqoyi Galbeed
- Awdal
-Djibouti

U.S.S will have a strategic capital , chosen without bias or butthurt.

Each state in U.S.S will have its own capital and government but all come under and obey one central government.

.....
....

U.S.S is just fantasy and will never happen

Somalis and United should never be put in the same sentence :dj:
Regions arent the problem the problem is unity and selecting a leader. All the random states exist ( Hoyo state, Abo State, In Adeer state etc.) we just can't unify together as one.Any solutions?

Meanwhile if we were to have the U.S.S i propose this as the flag.

it has somali cultural items and a 5 pointed star (how perfect), the embalm of djibouti fits nicely

Miss Bonita: You can be certain that the people in Somalia just want unity, peace, and a strong country. No one has told them that yet! All they hear is Clanist propaganda and
Lies that were fed to them by the corrupt assholes who they follow blindly without criticism. I believe that if this was explained to them well they would be convinced and support this idea of being united no matter which place in somalia they are.

Cesar: turning the regions into States will totally work imo because it will allow diversity and uniqueness these Somalis like. Also the regions are big enough to have atleast 3 big cities and a lot of towns. Sanaag for example has potential 4 big cities. i.e : Erigavo, Maydh, Laasqoray and Badhan. With towns like Xiis etc.
Sool also has potential 3 big cities ; Las Anod, Taleex, Ainabo and many other towns.

The leaders should only be educated people who have no bias at all. If you can't find them in Somalia then borrow them from the west or far east. Hell it would have been great if they replaced the whole central government with intelligent Japanese people they took from Japan until the home grown Somali youth get good education and become capable leaders.

As for the flag, damn that looks more like a seal/coat of arms than an actual flag

So the solution would be to educate the masses, now you're onto something.
