Ras Tafari was one of the weakest Ethiopian leaders in the history of Ethiopia. I suspect he was khanis. Certainly he had the personality of one and lacked the warrior genes to lead a nation as rough and as fearsome as Ethiopia.

His real name was Ras Tafari but he was crowned as Haile Selassie, Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Elect of God, King of Kings of Ethiopia, which was truly all non-sense. He was mere naag with a crown. He tried to follow the path of Emperor Tewodros II and Nagast Nagusa Menelik II of Shoa in modernizing Ethiopia but he was always lacking. He was soft and the West loved him for that. He was not a tough figure like Menelik or Tewodros.

His father, Ras Makonnen Walda Mikael was complete opposite to this lil fag. He was a true warrior and a fantastic leader of Galla heritage.

He occupied Harrar and Cagdheer with only 3,000 men though he had more than 100,000 ready in his arsenal. After he slapped Italian colonial officers in Adwa in North Tigray, he put down the Tigray rebellion led by Ras Mangasha Yohannes, the son of former Emperor Yohannes IV. He is also responsible for the development of Djibouti port. He is the true father of Djibouti as a nation.

After that he returned to Harrar to chase Cagdheer Islamist The Mad Mullah, Sayid Abdulla Hassan. He was a great warrior unlike his dwarf son that he secretly adopted.

There was problem with both Ras Makonnen and Menelik II, they lacked sons.

Anyways Haile was put down by Mengistu Haile Mariam and kept under the seat of a toilet for almost 20 years. His body rotted in there. Mengistu  No khanis should lead Ethiopia. He was removed from power in 1974 mostly by students, teachers' union, drivers and eventually the soldiers stepped in to restore order. These soldiers formed what was known as Derg led by Atnafu Abate and later by Aman Michael Andom and replaced by Tafari Benti before Mengistu took the top position.

Aman was the man who chased Siad Barre across the great desert. He was an Eritrean. He ran faster than Usan Bolt and left all of his tanks and artillery in the desert. After chasing Afweyne across the desert, commander Aman adopted the seal "Desert Lion." Had Siad Barre taken his arms, SNM and USC would have had difficult time defeating him later years. There would not even being a rift at all. The rift between Barre and his soldiers came about because of the defeat by the Desert Lion, Aman. Eventually Somalia collapsed because of this man.

Ras

One correction Aman was not during afweyne it was during was in 1964 Ethio Somali war the Somali republic had less military fire power than Ethiopia. I for one like how Haile selassie humiliated the Eritrean Christians Aman was one of them.

Hawdian Menelik is not greater than Haile selassie, Menelik according to one of my Amhara Friends i used to work with Haile selassie was considered much more noble than Menelik. Menelik killed allot of oromos people but refused to challenge the Italians in Eritrea by the way Menelik had Russian Military advisers which helped him overwhelm the Italians in Adowa They Trained him provided him with Logistics. By the Menelik transformed the Grand Mosque of Harar into a Church to Humiliate the Muslims in Harar.

Dont believe the Amhara bravado the Ethiopians outnumbered the Italians if Menelik was really that strong and brave he would have driven the Italians into the red sea. The Amhara by nature like to lie about the History never believe Amhara on History.

Haile Sillasie did great when he annexed hawd and reserve area he gave the Isaaq a place we sought refuge to during our wars with Somalia. Imagine if he never annexed the Hawd and reserve and we fought Somalia there would have being no place to return that dhul in Ethiopia always reserved for Isaaq..

With in the context of Ethiopian Emperors Haile selassie was the best
tewodros was a coward he killed him self when the English Queen threatened him
And Menelik was so scared to claim the Eritrean province and let the Italians have it while he killed allot of Oromos.

Salute

Ras
Ras Hawdian. You are misleading the Nomads. Miniik was no hero. adwa was fought by tigray infantry and oromo horsemen. minilik and his imperial army was far far away from the heat of the war. BTW ethiopians specially the northerners defeated every enemy that came to colonize them, adwa was not the only one . But the amharus and their dembia cousins in the north are so fool of themselves, they are so loud, and they like to exaggerate every lil acheivement.

I injected bit of my own opinion there regarding Ras Tafari's true parents :)

I mean yo the guy was almost white and his "parents" were like the Dinka brothers. Besides Ras Makonnen always hid the all truth about Ras Tafari and the fact that they claimed the mother past away during labor, made things more suspicious. Some sources claim he adopted Ras Tafari from cadan people in Djibouti.

Khalid you are right Lieutenant General Aman was in the 1964 war against Egal and his crew.

Haile was one of the weakest Ethiopian leaders. You can't compare the warrior Menelik II with Haile.

And no Menelik did not kill the 5 million Oromo claim he killed. That is misleading. The Oromo were killed by Oromo warriors that often operated autonomous from Menelik including Ras Ali, Gobena and others.

The real warrior leaders in those days were like Jalaaludin said Tewodros II and Menelik II.

And no Menelik did not have anything against Muslims but like today's politicians who play the "ISIS" card he played the Dervishes card to his advantage. He gave his daughter to a Muslim in marriage.
