now this is a complete fiction. somaalida were nomads in the miyi. growing plants or caring about those who grew crops was never a concern for our people. or i should say never a concern for the VAST MAJORITY of our people.

one somali living in xamar among the carabs does not make for a somali-carab slave trader alliance.

99% of Somalis never saw a carab in their life let alone knew anything about being allied with them.

they were brought by the same people who built xamar, kismayo, merca, etc.

us Somalis had NOTHING to do with the coastal cities or the farm lands in the south. daadken were nomads who lived in the bush. it was the Portguese, Arabs, Persians, etc. who were dealing with the Bantu.

after the bantu ran away from the carabs and the rest of the folks enslaving em, they settled amongst the nomadic somali tribes in the south. but before that, they had nothing to do with us.

some folks on this website are weird. the bantus had more use for slaves than somalis. we were not a people that planted crops. we simply herded animals. not really much need for slave labor when all you do it watch goats and camels graze for hours at a time.

You must be having a laugh. Are you trying to say that Ajuuraan empire didn't exist? Are you trying to say that the ancient Somali city states didn't exist? Are you trying to say that the medieval Somali coastal cities didn't exist? Are you trying to say that Somalis never ruled the Maldives Island or even traded with the Chinese? Are you denying the Somali maritime history? You need to learn your history boy. You sound nothing like but a inferior negro. Nomads kulaha, never heard of the Somali proverb of Miyi iyo Magaalo? Dayuus foqol dayuus, if I had the chance I would wish to hang you. Nacaladyahay

The blatant lie is just mind boggling. Didn't he ever heard of chronicle's and historical accounts? Does he think we are anti-intellectual like him to believe in such things. I swear he is a Somali Bantu claiming to be Dhullos.

warya i don't know nothing about no ajuuran state or whatever. reerkay waa reer miyi. we lived in the bush and we were proud of it.

I personally have never heard of Somalis being involved in anything outside of the pastoral lifestyle. And personally I'll take anything you say with a grain of salt considering our culture looked down upon anything that did not involve the pastoral lifestyle. We looked down upon people who were farming or even making iron or shoes. Thus, its highly unlikely that a culture that looked down upon all those things would also be involved in building any sort of empire.

i'm fine with my ancestors being nothing more than reer miyi. I don't need imagined history to feel better about myself. To me there is nothing "inferior" about the pastoral lifestyle. I believe it is dignified enough.

if Xamar was built by Somalis, would it be called Mogadishu? why would Somalis give their city a Persian name?

nothing about Somali culture lends itself to the building of cities. we are nomads. we move from place to place. we don't even have towns per se because our people don't even farm. all authentically somali towns are really just places our nomadic ancestors congregated at because it had wells with water (i.e. Laascaanod) or it was places where we met to trade (i.e. Hargeisa).

places like Mogadishu have non-Somali names because they are non-Somali in origin. not saying there weren't some Somalis there but their origins were definitely foreign. how could Somalis go from being desert nomads to building a large port city?

not lies. just truth. Somalida waa daad guraa. Our culture is ANTI-THETICAL with staying at one place. If there are no cities in the interior of Somalia, why would we built cities like Xamar in the coast? just look at the name. MOGADISHU. its not even Somali. its Persian for "Seat of the Shah". if it was a Somali town, why would we give it a non-Somali name?

this shit ain't rocket science folks. Xamar's origin is the same as all those other cities along the coast of East Africa like Zanzibar. It was founded by non-Africans. Carabs, Persians, Portguese, etc. They built the cities. They mixed with the natives. So I'm not denying there was some Somali influence. Hell our people were right there. But the Hawiye or whatever clan lived in Xamar at that time did not build anything. Just like the jareer in Tanzania didn't built Zanzibar or any of those coastal towns along East Africa.

Zanzibar and Mogadishu was built by foreigners. It was occupied by foreigners. They brought slave labor to help them do whatever they were doing. Somalidda just the jareerta in Zanzibar that joined Carabta/Persians/Portuguese were just of minimal influence.

the majority of us Somalis were looking at Xamar the same way jareerta in Tanzania were looking at Zanzibar. A FOREIGN INVENTION.
