You have to understand that majority of our people, I wouldn't be surprised over 90%, are illeterates. Those few of us who have been lucky enough to have acquired some form of education, stories like this one would surprise us. In our communities, this is a normal and I actually heard many stories like this here in the States where the husband forces the poor wife to have the stitches back. Just go to any Fadhi Ku Dirir Somali and bring up a subject like this. What makes our people unique in their own ways is that the illiterates and the the ignorants would claim to know everything in the world including the capital cities of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
