The way we deal with things in western countries is of a magnitude 10x better than back home. The sickening things ive heard.

A murder in a western country of course is going to be publicised for the world to see.

Summerrain, this has become very common in Norway and will probably be something we must get used to; there are thousands of Somalis with mental instabilities around the world. Too often, there is an underlying trauma ; years of civil war, buufis and crossing the seas , and most certainly a breakdown of institutions have contributed to this.

A few years ago in Oslo, there was this somali guy who attacked passengers on a commuter train. He injured around 7 people. As Farxaan mentioned, there was this other guy who butchered his wife. They had a kid. They were both very religious.

The situation is the same in the USA.

The question is; is this a new phenomenon?

There was also another case in Norway where a Somali husband killed his wife put her in the trunk of his car and did his daily errands as business as usual. He shopped for his kids, took them to school and home and visited with them relatives in the same car. The police found her frozen body in the trunk of his car only when his car broke down and he abandoned it on the road 4 months after he killed her. He was functioning normally within the community, he told them she ran away to England with a new lover and people were cursing her for abandoning her 4 and 5 year old sons.

You probably right. I don't have first hand experience on how things are back home but I do know based on my interactions here, Somalis don't cope well. They're not the best problem solvers either.

What do you think? I don't know perhaps pre-civil war era, there were isolated incidents? Accounting the reasons you mentions, we are bound to hear of more incidents in the west. Even the generation that did not experience trauma of war first hand face immense challenges such as family dysfunction, socioeconomic and education disparities that add to their other stressors I.e culture and identity issues.
