Mashallah to the sister, indeed we need young role models like her.

Liquid

It is lack of resources in our high schools and universities labs, most of these universities are funded through wealthy patrons. In addition to that, in the private sector, we lack basic industries that manufacture the basic materials required by the scientists. We have to import such rudimentary products like nails and chemicals.

On a side note, doesn't the sister look like Mo Farah wearing Hijaab?

I wouldn't say Africans are not interested in Science lol. Indian culture puts a lot of emphasis on education- like a blind belief in it saving your life out of poverty,status/caste obsession etc. I would really hate to have Indian parents. Jews probably have the same pressure to succeed as a stigmatised people- plus they genuinely support each other as community everywhere which is something to emulate! My 2 cents

Kudos to this sister!!

Mashallah at the sis, only a sophomore and she's doing some award-winning research.

If i had one dac'wah mustajaabah, it would be for us to see more stories like this. Stories of Muslims fully integrated in the societies they live in, advancing and achieving in all fields, especially in Science & Technology.
