Menace, he has not been deported and neither has his restaurant been burnt down. My point was that if you want to act like an idiot and burn down a building that he doesn't even own just because you were denied the chance to eat dog meat (for apparently that's what they've been doing,) why don't you do it intelligently and steal from him?
I indicated somewhere that the Nairobi Governor is wholly incompetent. He could easily have tracked them by attacking them on the eating of dogs and the operating of a brothel. as for the chinese stranglehold, you do not seem to understand how china works in Africa. Read this comment of mine and you'll see
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=363306&p=4447515#p4447515 where i said, "China frowns at this kind of publicity." If the guy is kicked out of Kenya, you can be sure he'll be punished severely in China. Already the Chinese Gvt.through its embassy has issued as statement:
The Embassy of the People's Republic of China has apologised following the controversy over a restaurant's policy of not admitting black Kenyans after 5pm.
The Chinese restaurant in Kilimani was closed down by the Nairobi County government on Tuesday as it did not have a liquor licence, a health licence and a change-of-use licence.
The restaurant's management had apologised for the policy, saying the move was necessary following a robbery in 2013.
In a strongly worded statement released on Thursday by spokesperson Mao Yizong, the embassy expressed "deep and sincere regret" for the restaurant's treatment of customers.
"On behalf of the Embassy, I declare that the conduct reported was wrong and unbecoming. It has caused unnecessary, yet avoidable, misunderstandings and threatened to jeopardize the mutual trust and friendship between the Chinese and Kenyan people … The Embassy has thus far raised its concerns to and reprimanded the owner of the restaurant."
Responding to the justification of the policy offered by the restaurant's management, the Chinese government said the restaurant "ought to have taken thoughtful measures" that would not have resulted in selective admission.
WARNING
The embassy also warned its citizens living in the country, saying it hoped lessons had been learnt. "We do not expect such reckless conduct from Chinese businesspeople in Kenya … We shall deal with any repeat of such misconduct with (the) severity, firmness and alacrity it deserves."
China encouraged people to report anything that could potentially damage relations between the people of the two countries, saying it was "keen on creating a conducive environment of amiable co-existence between the people of China and Kenyans".
"We are therefore ready and willing to listen and ensure that nothing dents the thriving relationship between the people of China and the people of Kenya."
Do you think if it were a restaurant being operated by a US citizen/ British citizen their embassies would have responded thus? Nope. All-in-all. This is plenty of hype. It will be very difficult for anybody to nail these guys on a law. The Right of Admission seems to be a thoroughly ingrained doctrine in .KE.
Example, recently a PUBLIC school in a predominantly Muslim area banned girls from wearing the Hijab to school. It was actually an existing policy, only that politicians demanded that they do, and the children, on opening school, did wear the hijab. The school head was livid. The ministry of education and the Teachers Service Commission overruled her, she went to court and the court sided with her. The court ruled that allowing the girls to wear hijab would be discriminatory. Of course, the politicians will appeal, but just shows you to what extent the authority of the management is respected. How much more then do you expect the doctrine to be applied to a private institution?
It we take that route, you'll have Atheists demanding to be admitted to religious clubs just so that they can cause havock as they do in the US. I am very wary about such laws myself. If someone doesn't want my money, why should i force him to take it? Only he shouldn't be slaughtering dogs and cats in this country.
