In Nu'aym ibn Hammad (Muhammad ibn Ismail Al Bukahri's teacher)'s book Kitab Al Fitan (book of tribulations), he narrates a hadith of the prophet reported by one of the companions in which the Prophet said the fitna of Syria will begin by a mere "lu3ba" of youth, and it will culminate with the descent of Isa ibn Maryam (as), interestingly the war in Syria began with youth spray painting anti-government graffiti all over the country which then led to protests then to killings then to civil war.

ZubeirAwal is right. The war will not end until Mahdi emerges and Issa Ibn Maryam (pbuh) descends. The day you see the Khilafa in its last seat, that is the day it will end.
