these r officials(civil servants, work for $ 5000 per month) for example the pms staff gets paid from two different sources....once they rejected to pay for the govts spokesperson after he was included among the employees and the advisors(was claiming being advisor) then he was included in other staff, at that time the pms office was getting paid directly by turkey but they stopped it after cumar arrived..this is why he resigned as he doesnt get paid

Turkey wont build a modern port in some backwater with no return on investment, are you nuts Somalia only needs 5 ports max and a nice road system and small harbours

A port can never be built at Hobyo due to immense dredging costs.
The Chinese wanted to build a port there to export natural gas from Kilil 5, but they found out that a shallow and substantial reef was present at 1 mile out to sea. The costs just to maintain a port there would be in the tens of millions a year. Maintenance would eat up your profits.



So now the chinese are looking into Garacad as their natural gas port and are in talks with Puntland.

In BC here we have a similar situation with shallow water in Tsawwassen, what we did was build a jetty out into the sea to the proper depth.

That said if I was going to invest in developing Hobyo, I would build tourism there, some nice hotels and build sand berms to create swimming beaches free of sharks. Mogadishu is close enough to the central regions that another port is probably unneccesary, what the central regions need is railroads and better highways connecting to Mogadishu.
