They are not all evil, some don't even call themselves 'mujaahidiin'. I had the pleasure of meeting a lot of them and no harm came my way from the regular ones who were basically watching out for the population in absence of a national army or police force. If you put AMISOM and Shabaab side by side, AMISOM are guilty of more casualties, rapes and other human rights abuses. In fact, AMISOM want to remain in Somalia indefinitely (its good money for them) so they burst into non Shabaab strongholds wounding and killing people just to get a response from Shabaab and keep the pretense going.

The fact that 1/3 of Somalia's population is thought to have a mental disorder would explain a lot of these instances. Also, I think we need to be kinder to Shabaab, a lot joined aged 12 or 13, so they're basically really screwed up ex child soldiers. Islam is not a Foreign ideology in Somalia, we are 100% Muslims.

If we are true Muslims our actions must show, our laws, our way of life and system of Governance must always reflect it.

Without Puntland, we wouldn't even have a Federal Government, the concept would not exist so its worth celebrating. The qabiil war, Shabaab, AMISOM, these would spread to every city and town if Puntland didn't have its own administration, police force etc.
