Unfortunately, you know very little about the shifta war. And the little you know, you don't know it very well. The Shifta war ended in 1967 after a peace deal between Somalia and Kenya in 1967. The leader of Somalia at the time was Abdirashid Shermarke and the premiership of Muhammad Egal, . MSB became the leader of Somalia in 1969. And even after he took up office and rejected the peace treaty, he never started any stupid thing again since the bandits had been crushed.

In any case, the governement of .KE was fighting bandits under the auspice of the NPPPP and other Somalia puppets. There was NEVER a DIRECT WAR between .SO and .KE.

The Shifta war was not a political war. It may have had some elements of politics especially through the NPPPP, but the rest was a bunch of clan elders who had been bribed by the Somalia gvt. The bandits had no choice but to surrender. They had been thoroughly crushed.

Just to show you how little the aspirations of the Kenyan Somalis was taken into consideration, ask yourself why the negotiation was not between the Kenyan govt and the NPPPP, but it was between the Kenyan govt. and the Somalian government.

Kenya and Ethiopia signed a pact after Ogaden War. Kenya felt secure with this Ethiopian aid. They knew that Barre would never tried to invade Kenyan soil.
