I don't think there is an actual somali word for a door (that rectangular wooden or metal piece) because in Aqal Somali therearen't doors, just lots of openings from one space/room to another. Cultures develop languages from what they have in their surroundings and what they use. Hence if we don't have that word, we outsource it from a neighbouring country. At some point it stops bring a loanword if a group of people use nothing else except that.
Irida soo xidh miyaanu odaygaagu ku odhan for a quicky.
Isla yaab sxb. Whatever happened to decorum? Buddhists manners ma lahan miyaa?

Futurist wrote:YM Aqal Somali doesnt have wooden doors but it does have a doorway (kadin/irid) and a covering (abjid?) with the same function. So these words are I think the nearest Somali words to Al Baab. Kadinka xidh is a legitimate use of the word.
All are legitimate (as in they work when you use them on people), but none actually mean the physical door except for arbaab, and the origin of that is Arabic.

Please comes from "If you please". So adigoo raali ah is correct.

raali is an arabic word as well. Our language is full of borrowed words..we were probably just as lazy about language as are about our food.

Somali language lack a lot of basic things like for example the color blue despite the entire sky been blue most of the time , but we have words for snow!!! baraf :-?, also Somali is probably the only language a child would call his parents aabo/hooy and the parents answer back aabo/hooyo

Raali is not Arabic, metamorphosis i think you're mistaken. I also know for a fact that in hindi & urdu and probably in a lot of the regional languages there... baraf means ice/snow.
