It's like explaining calculus to you.
It's not counted under any at the moment but when study is done it will be a phase of the joint venture company by SL and DP.
It will be funded separately. Still it's not clear who is funding it but there is talks much of the fund will come from UAE but not DP.
The base only involves separate port and the airport. That's all.
Then you have humanitarian or social projects by trust funds, Foundations, charities and so on.
For eg, Khalifa Foundations is doing the water dams, schools, agriculture initiatives.
Then you have a whole separate companies and entities all behind the big boys. These are complimentary entities such as hotels/restaurants who will carter for tourists, marine personnels, DP staff, etc.
I expect the base will make more Westerners feel safe. This is spill over benefit (tourism).

I think the dp world port deal was just a cover up to sneak in this military base deal thats why both contracts are so similar or maybe the same it's like a double edge sword emirates had to guarantee themselves a foothold in strategic location with less restricions than the one in eritrea that is under strict UN sanctions.X.Playa wrote: Sun Mar 19, 2017 8:49 am If its not tarmac what is it?

Wtf we cannot compare erigavo - burco and berbera corridor.
Berbera corridor is a expressways, waa waddo xaamul ah, so.it must be built up by chinese or advanced engineers.

This is the real deal, i met the delegation, this was actually signed.
Surprised the hell out of me, because i was skeptical about the UAE.
It seems that the UAE is a front for the US, they really badly want this to go through and its all because of whats going on in Yemen, and Syria/IRaq.
Everyone knows i am against the Empire, but there is a stick that goes along with the carrot of $2billion investment.
There is a gun to our heads and if our leaders had the stupidity and moral fortitude to decline this opurtunity we would be royally fucked.
This is a win for Somaliland , thank you Russia, Iran and the houtis for scaring the shit out of the Empire ,
and may god have mercy on us for our sins.

$300 million is actually well below the real cost,X.Playa wrote: Sun Mar 19, 2017 8:19 am Burao to Erigavo was 375km and so far almost 200km of is built and it didn't cost that much so whats so special about Wajaale Berbera which is only 249km?
And why the expense to build this road is counted twice both in the private DP deal and in the government to government military base deal?
No need to get all worked up so far all we have is words that UAE will do this and that but in reality i don't see any benefits written on paper about these shody deals.
ive spoken to civil engineers with experience in road construction and have seen the area live.
A quality road will cost as least 50% more approaching 500 million.

I told you guys months ago. This is a covert pivot of the USA from Djibouti to Somaliland. Partly because Djibouti & Ethiopia have got into bed with China. In a few years we will see USA base in Djibouti also moved to Somaliland and we should welcome them. This just the prelude, USA keeping its options open, setting the groundwork for possible future changesgurey25 wrote: Sun Mar 19, 2017 11:34 am This is the real deal, i met the delegation, this was actually signed.

I want to see way more than just the port and road to wajaale. This will not help us grow our economy, but cements our dependency on Ethiopia like Djibouti.
What we really need is investment in power plants, cement plants, distribution grids etc. This is infrastructure that will enable manufacturing, food/meat processing etc. We also need to improve our international links i.e. Hargeisa & Berbera airports and upgrading the Zaylac-Hargeisa-Berbera-Burco-Erigavo/Las Anod road.

I was bit skeptical as well at one point. For long time governments before Kulmiye told us a lot of promises that never materialised.gurey25 wrote: Sun Mar 19, 2017 11:34 am This is the real deal, i met the delegation, this was actually signed.

Kulmiye has so far delivered on most of their promises and UAE deal is huge victory for Somaliland.
Look at the usual noisy haters all silenced.
I love that.
Yesterday they tried to block it.
Today they are silent.
And tomorrow they will boast about "Berbera the mega Somali port" to other Africans. Wait and see.
Great victory over the enemies of progress.

Just know if you had assets in Gacan Libaax or Berbera or anything along that corridor your luck just changed.
Malin uun bad fahmi ood arkina doonta.
KingWaslawi is the architect. Not sure if we have civil engineers or construction project managers.
Proper roads are very expensive. A lot goes into it.
The Berbera corridor will not have the same layers or quality of concrete/asphalt as Erigabo. Eri is our first run. Roads have their own evolution cycles.
You have to take expenses of running 270-km road. Can you imagine how many millions of litres of gasoline will be used.
From the get go the road has to be built right to support 10-20 or even 30 years into the future traffic---big lorries, long vehicles, constant beatings by man, machine and weather.
Remember I said who will finance the road is not known yet?
Well I just went through the communique from today's agreement and it looks like the UAE Gov will.
And when I say UAE gov I'm talking about Abu Dhabi not Dubai. The deal signed today was signed in Abu Dhabi.
The dams/water projects are thru Abu Dhabi (Khalifa Foundation).
