here is proof the futher you go down to the south the more al shabaab controlled regions. Al shabaab controls huge swathes of JL than any other southern region followed by Southwest. because of Kenya, clan conflict, JL is the perfect incubator for terror groups.

When the issue is one of ideology and the battle lines are sometimes drawn between father and radicalized son, I am not sure what a regional pissing context where these guys are concerned is relevant.

Since a comparison between Hiiraan and Gedo is going on, I will make this point using both Ugaask and Sahal.

It is true, Gedo is the only southern region; nay the only region where Shabaab ever had control that is now with every district free of Shabaab's control. All 7 DISTRICTS ARE FREE OF SHABAAB'S "CONVENTUAL" CONTROL.

Al Shabaab doesn't have any standing conventual forces there at all. This is different to any other region originally part of the Shabaab heartland. For instance, Lower and Middle Shabelle continue to fall back to be retaken.

Hiiraan on the other hand not only has Shabaab active in the Western half of the region with the Shabelle River as the dividing line, but it does so as a CONVENTUAL force in physical control as the law enforcement body. They also do this as a result of an even more disadvantageous reason than exists in Gedo; namely because of the impossibility of a single clan to preside over total control of the region. This is to say, that Shabaab is actively in existence as a conventional force directly as a result of being blessed or in cohoots with politically aggrieved communities.

Yes , the Gedo MR clan are divided sub-clannishly as Sahal highlighted, but their internal squabbling within Marehan does not come at the expense of united clan position where the fight with Shabaab is concerned.

Even so, they are still politically divided between the daily political choices and as a result, Shabaab is able to successfully carry-out hit and run attacks probably on the back of Marehan supporters of the outfit.

Which brings me to a larger point; if they are defeated in the field, the become an insurgency. If you clean the highways, they blend in the towns.

Shabaab supporters are like a virus. You can't see, you can't smell it, you can't stop them much from affecting your own son or brother if their immune system proves vulnerable.

It is also why inn general, I am absolutely against the implementation of the death penalty in the Somalia of now without any laws underpining conventional treatment of prisoners or due process, fair petition to be heard, or non-biased judgement.

Note I am not against the death penalty. An animal who rapes and kills their victim deserves a fair reached death sentence. Similarly for a terrorisr who bombs innocent people walking about their day.

At the least, once under control, prisoners should be treated with basic human rights governing treatment of detainees

And yes, once again, I have read your response to me in Shabelle Valley thread and I have had time to think about your question regarding bias and have an answer for you that would surprise you---as soon as my chart is brought down to size. I am never one who has thought even once to monetize his input, but recently people that would surprise you (that surprised me) have reached out to me with encouragement to get into the consultancy business. This is not to say I am a famous or even a known person. I am not. I am very private and unknown person.

I don't know why Sahal has become very passive aggressive with
me, but even his last response is reactionary. It teaches me nothing except the man is not motivated in that post to teach me something---he is being a disservice to himself and sadly a disservice to someone like me who could learn from hjm even though I am not entitled to his teaching whether I offer in return or not. In fairness, I know why he is passive aggressive and I know the role I had contributing to it, but somebody who loves learning is also naturally a great student----enough to see Sahal has displayed difficulty with taking ownership. It is why I don't expect him to realize the role he had similarly contributing to the communication dysfunction we see in this topic nor even the ability to display humility and yield from a position of strong rather than assumed weakness. People that don't take ownership are always, in their minds, the victims not a contributing cause of disruption.
