* Send * Send * Send*

You're not responsible for what they spend it on. You shouldn't be even thinking about that. Rolling Eyes

When I send remittance funds to some bugger back home, I dont stay awake the whole night contemplating:'what will he do with X amount I sent today through Dahabshiil? will he buy Khat or buy his mates beer in a nightclub in downtown Nairobi?'

Once it goes to him/her, it is for them to decide what to do with said money.

Simply we( our family) have no respect for Jaad. We feel obliged to do anything to stop it. We cann't close our eyes and say " Well, we shouldn't care what they spend with the money" .Yes we care, and I am proud to say that we make sure the money goes to the hungry children and women not to marqaan, Geerash and fusuq. Evil or Very Mad

Jaad is what distroyed our country. No respect for it and its users.

I agree with San Dheere 100%. No body twisted my arm. I decided to send the money..no need for me to dig dirt and find out what they’re spending "THIER" money on.

Sandheer & Lug

Actually I think you are wrong from Isalmic, moral, ethical and practical point of views and Kambuli is right.

The idea that you are not responsible for what happens to the money you send is rather disingenous and smacks of see no evil hear no evil hypocrisy.

What if you send money and they buy guns with it and kill the local people? What is Islamic about that?

No it is vital you ask questions and demand explanations of what is happening to your Sadaqah if that is what you consider it.

On the contrary. I am not with them and can not control how they spend, but I will take their word for that, besides, I know who is capable of buying weapons (I never sent money to Ina Indho Guduud)

How would you know if they are spending the right way or the wrong way? Unless you are a control freak and wanna dictate how ppl spend the meager pennies you part with, there is no reasonable way a man in the West would know where what he remits ended up, hence, I give the liberty to the recipient

Lug

Do you believe the concept of of `do no harm' as minimum ethical common denominator applies in sadaqah?

And if you do are you not in breach of it by sending money without taking all the necessary steps to ensure it used for good and not for evil?
