UM=University of Maryland....The one in college park is a known party school...that's the main campus.

It would a jump off between Harvard,Yale, Princeton, I know the expenses and how hard it would be on my student loan if I were to attend a school selection of those three.

I was a little bit surprised to find out that stanford and duke weren't part of the ivy leagues but they are extremely prestigious too.

Yeah, columbia is niceeeeeeee...but hella expensive..i checked their tuition and i think they are charging higher than Harvard..i think. Shocked

The Ivy League is just a term that is used to reference schools that once belonged to the same athletic conference. The so-called "prestige" of these institutions is prevalent in people's mind but has no historical basis for truth. While it is true that people are more impressed when your college degree is from an IVY league, the fact is there is no long term benefit of attending an IVY league, besides of course the obvious pride. A new study conducted showed that someone who attended an IVY league school is not going to make more in the long run then someone who opted for a state school.

That being said, if I could attend one IVY league, I would go to Dartmouth because of it's emphasis on study abroad, it's beautiful campus, and it's small student population. (Plus, it's on the quarter system)
