Israel is going to survive anyway. It has a modern military, it's nuclear armed, and it has a modern economy. But the administration foolishly thought that by toppling Saddam it would bring the Palestinians to heel. And maybe they will. Bu they should put more effort into it.

SO, if it has all that military might, why did your nation have to tople sadam, couldn't the Israelis with all their man advancement do it themself, they are after all close to the country no need to travel all the way across continents. Also, the U.S is ranking up both trillion dollar debt and thousands of boddies, doesn't seem like a very smart part on your great nation. Confused

Israel lacks force projection capability. It really can only hope to project power in its immediate neighborhood of Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Lebanon. And only in a limited way concerning Saudi Arabia.

I agree that the juice was not worth the squeeze concerning Iraq. Never thought it was. For the veteran Somalinetters here, they will testify I was oppossed to the invasion before it happened. Now that we've done it, we are obligated to try and leave the place with some semblance of governance. But frankly, I think the Iraqis themselves have thrown away their chance. It is likely to descend into anarchy and vicious civil war. the problem with Arabs is their social compacts are paper thin and revolve around greed and ridiculous power struggles. They have never governed themselves well. Why should we expect them to in this case?
