The problem with US foreign policy in Somalia is that it is too often abused by 1 faction. The US should be careful not to give too much aid to Yusuf to a point where he becomes arrogant and refuses to negotiate with his opposition both in the TFG & outside it.

Balance is key.

Now how on Gods green earth (or brown in your case) could we have been more "fair and balanced" between the Barre regime and the "rebel groups"? Should we have provided financial aid or arms to the SNM or the USC??? Come on man. You got to be realistic.

MAC, if the US wants to waste more money on interfering in Somalia, then its welcome to it...but don't expect the people to lie down and take it, we will fight and our children will fight and their children too...the UIC will always be there because it has a large support base and when it comes to freedom fighters, all that is needed is support and the rest is down to being patient and consistent...the UIC has all it needs to succeed and having learned from past mistakes is more determined than ever before to bring back unity in Islam to the Somali people. It costs us next to nothing to support internal divisions within Somalia. It costs us next to nothing to help out the Ethiopians. This is childs play. Since the Ugandans have no helicopters, there will not be any Blackhawk down scenerios. There might be a ground convoy cut off and attacked, which brings in the rest of the Ugandan force and there is a full pitched battle with a few thousand dead. That would be fun.
