I don't think the UHC is going to work long-term. First of all it's an entirely qabiilist entity, united solely by their collective hatred of the Tigray and Majerteen occupation, and history has proven time and time again that qabiilist entities of more than one qabiil are doomed to fail.

Don't get me wrong, history has ALSO shown that when the Hawiye can work out their differences and work together as one people, there isn't a whole lot that can stop them. There's just too many bloody lineages in the Hawiye, and they all think that they should be in charge, and that's the problem.

If the Hawiye could actually pick one Qabiil as the "leader", and all the other Hawiye qabiil did what they said, AND that qabiil didn't take advantage of the situation, AND they didn't try to expand and crush the other Somali states, then and only then could something like the UHC work, and it would work, it would become the strongest Somali state by far.

However this begs the question, who gets put in charge, and how likely is it that the other qabiil will listen?

Hawiye should unite against the invaders, but for them to play a more active role they would have to develope a Hawiye state Administration.

with the Invasion this is now unrealistic but if they did it instead of the UIC adventure they would be top dog today.

The UIC adventure was a painfull experience. Mogadishu people were seduced by the relative peace and stability the UIC brought after waiting 15 years in eager.

Ofcourse they couldn't know that the UIC would place their own agenda before that of the people and turn the world against them.


These lessons should not be forgotten.

Always think about the long-term interest and security of the people instead of short-term gains which can vaporize like snow in the sun.
