You're right , berkad is a reservoir , could be a pool or anything else with water in it .

I don't get what is wrong with what the lady said. technically there is no term for swimming poor in somali, the closest thing is barkad.

There was a picture of a barkad in front of a house, it even had baca that you put under so the water doesn't sink. She comes in and is like "masha'allah they even have swimming pools in somalia"

Marka how are we alike? and why would there be a barkad in front of a home? they are usually in tuuloyin/baadiyo
