AW you well know why HA want to susceed its becasue they want the presidential sit. If Somaliland susceeds after roughly 10 yrs (i.e after they are given two terms in office and have benfitted immensely and cannot hold office again) thye HA will come back to Somalia or Ethiopia and establish a rebel group that would seek indendence for woqoyi galbeed. then it will continue till Sacad Muse will want Hargeisa to be a city country.

I know that the vast majority are against it but I would like to know the reasons. Look at Somalia we have been in war for two decades now and the main reason is that we don't know how share a country and more importantly is that we have no respect for each other. Me personally it would of been great to have a united country of all our lands, but our problem is that we can't stand each other. I believe that there was a time when we could of all been united under the somali flag, but that time has now passed.
Allah says love for your brother, what you love for yourself, so the best I can do is make du'ah that somalia becomes free from chaos. But as for being one country well I believe that we cannot share a country so why should you force your brother something he doesn't want.
I wouldnt care as long as Dhulbahante, Warsangeli, Gadabursi & Issa sing the petition.
If they do then I would say Good luck to them.
But the main problem is after 5 yrs HA will want to susceed from Somaliland
Ogadenku wa the biggest hypocrites in the world. They want to take a whole portion full of other somalis name it after themselves chase a self determination dream without consulting any of the other tribes, and then they aggravate the occupiers and then cry wolf about a genocide. But what really takes the biscuit is they assume they have the moral high ground to pass judgment on somalilands case...

You are obviously a person with a low IQ or you don't want to admit the truth to yourself. I think its the former. Somaliland actually, legally has a strong case. If you do your research you will come to know that. We all know that Somaliland was a separate entity known as British Somaliland, pre 1960, to Italian Somalia. We were an independent state for 5 days until we merged with Italian Somalia to form the Somali Republic. They key phrase here is that " we were an independent state". Lets say that Puntland wanted to seek recognition. They would have no chance as they were always part and parcel of Italian Somalia. Look at Eritrea, they seceded from Ethiopia because of colonial boundaries and oppression and a bloody war between the two. Eritrea was an Italian colony, unlike Ethiopia which was never colonised. So Somaliland has a case but the question is that the international community is waiting for Somalia to stabilise and deal with this issue.

My personal view is that Somaliland will never be recognised. Firstly, there is little interest in Somaliland. It is desperately poor and it has a weak and dysfunctional leadership. There is a political crisis as I write this. Secondly, there are clans against independence such as some Harti and some of the Gadabursi as well as some Isaaq subclans. Thirdly, Somalis in the rest of Somalia are adamantly opposed to the breakaway of Somaliland.

The only way forward is a Federal United Somalia. Where there are states such as Somaliland, Puntland, Banaadirland, Jubaland, etc.. which control their own affairs such as economy, military, judiciary, government, education, health, etc... All federal states would be competing with one another for investment and the well being of their state. this would improve Somalia's economy and a better quality of life for its people. There would also be a central government, inclusive of all clans and all federal states which would be responsible for the federal well being of the country. It would not interfere in local federal state affairs. They would also deal with representing the country abroad and on strengthening unity.

This is the only way. Going back to a time when Somalia was ruled from Mogadishu and where the whole economy was based only in the south as national policy would be over and would be a recipe for disaster.
