From what i have read of varies researches of Somali clans, the Isaaq and Dir where mentioned separately. So does the D&M but again, the Isaaq are closer to the Dir than any other clan (Darood & Hawiya) although they are closer in blood lines (only Habar Garxjis are related to theme) because the bulk of Dir lives next to us and we already made peace and everything you might call it a coalition or unwritten confederation. Its funny they (Darood&Hawiya) attached us with the Dir since they are closer to theme than the Isaaq in general. But you got to admit it, the two played it well when they placed the Isaaq under Dir in 4.5 while we where like "we dont give a shit, we are in a whole other country" I cant see how the southern Dir used from that too. They have a lot of seats in the parliament but yet voiceless after the takeover of lands in Shabeleh.The Dir (counted with Isaaq) are the largest clan in Somalia but never made it to the president nor pm. The only clan I hate among the Dir are Cissa. They refuse to help their brothers (in south Somalia and western Somaliland) and their allies the Isaaq in SL. Why am I complaining? they don't even help their own people in Ogaden and Selel Those people are punch of crocks In Djiboti they live in a tiny enclave in the size of Sarar most of the country is inhabitant by the Afar.
