The creeping foolishness creeps on creepishly. None of my kinsmen from the Golden Age of the board have returned I see. Just a lot of spotty-faced teenagers only just sprouting pubic foliage. Good to see none of the skinnies have been starved to death by Ramadan. I disconnected myself from the internet and said farewell to my blogging and laptop theorising on political boards to pursue what J S Mill called experiments in living, and to suck undistracted from the fount of the Holy Month. On which latter point, Eid Mubarak to all the keyboard junkies.I had a whale of a time at the masjid next to which is a halal bar where they serve the hottest, maddest, gladdest Irish whiskey. There I sat in my flowing robe complimented by my white cimaamat topped off with a miswaak dangling from my lips gulping down ten gallons of the Drink of Life as only a bidaar weyn can. Match that.

The barmaid was not bad to look at either. Said I: Hey buttercup, why don't you let me play with you a little? She broke out in giggles and told me that she would love to experiment with a handsome dog like me, but it turned out however that my young lovely was snapped up by the heavily tattooed bouncer at the door so I bailed out of there before things turned ugly. Such grand times.

It's a curious affair living unplugged from the cyber age. No email, no Skype, no swapping lies with pretty things on S'Net. But the upshot is that I don't waste ten hours a day clicking from one internet site to another. I have to answer mail by post true enough, but email never really saves time because I've never just e-mailed, I e-chat, e-read and e-flirt with underage girls that could very much land me in the calaboose. I wonder if you post-net kids born after the web's creation have known a life unkissed by the net. Only those brave hearts from '06.

Things are going swimmingly. My wig still flutters in the wind, my wife treats me autocratically and my ten barefoot kids are turning the house into a re-enactment of World War Two. But I'm consoled by the knowledge that you are mounting the beardos like a bison. Impressive.

Why haven't they made a veteran like yourself a Mod around here? A pity. The place has been overrun by kids with leaking breast implants for brains. I hope they are not keyboarding through life in their golden age. In my youth ten million years ago before they were born, I was being ejected from seedy nightclubs in Xamar daily, chased by the fuzz for stealing crates of beer for my rugby club, and denounced by the village elders for snogging their daughters after nightfall

It makes one pity the kids on here that spend countless days swapping insults with each other when they could be enriching the local singles bar. How youth is wasted on the young.
