It's not fair to blame personal low self-esteem only - I believe it is a collective low self-esteem a lot of somalis are suffering from. You have parents who are proud that their daughters are marrying cadaan and other foreigners..the somali name is at an all time low. A lot of somalis think it's cool to put down their own people all the time.

i don't know about gaal la goorsanayo
but somalis didn't start to marry from outside just now
though now is more often than before.
when people travel or leave their homeland
they mix or intract with others and get to know them
the bigest fair human has is what they don't know
once they know them they see them as a human not as
outsiders or outside their own race/ethnics.
my grand father's case was he went to sub continental india
for knowledge and 3lm
he married from them
my father also married because he was outside his own
though his first wife is somali.
now somalis are every where in the world so it's normal
some of us go for the people they live with or born and grow with.
