The significance of this change for Jewish culture was to emphasize the importance of literacy, scholarship, and the value of knowledge and study in general. wow, interesting stats....you can't really argue about most of what's on there although I don't see the point in comparing the two groups. Muslims contributed a lot to the development of science....ok today's muslims are not doing so well as they should be but there are many reasons for that which should be taken into account.

Grant, you can't really say Jews value education more than Muslims....our religion puts seeking knowledge at the forefront. The reason why Muslims do not have as much power as the Jews is because most Jews have been in the west longer than Muslims have and they have integrated more than muslims....knowledge and power goes where the money is, it doesn't really mean that Jews are somehow better or have better aspirations than Muslims....it just means they've had the opportunities and they took advantage of them. Tomorrow if the western powers were to collapse just as the Islamic empires before them... you might see stagnation in these communities just as you see in Islamic nations. Most of what is happening in the Muslim world is not because of the people or religion...it is due to a shift in the global economy, power, & knowledge that happened following the renaissance period and poor leadership in the Muslim world.
