Re: somali slaves in Saudi arabia?
Hyper,
The government of Sudan has many times made laws against slavery, and has claimed more than once to have eliminated it. But it is clear these laws are not, and never have been, enforced. Slavery, and slave sales in the Sudan are de-facto legal. While most of the eye-witness accounts are from Christian sources, the reports are too consistant, taken together with a long history and recent Sudanese and Egyptian fatwas, to ignore.
I don't think there can be any doubt that the slave trade continues today as part of the on-going Sudanese civil war, and that it includes Muslim as well as other tribespeople:

Hyper,
De Jure and De Facto are are entirely different animals. By Sudanese fatwa, slavery is legal. Sharica.Take your argument up with Wikipedia.

in saudi arabia slavery was banned in the 1970's due to peresures from the united nations. if you go to riyad in saudi capital, you will see suuqal 3abiid and 7aarutal 3abiid, market and suberb of slaves. king khalid changed the slavery saudis due to american campaign. but these people were muslim africans not somalis.

these days, every one can say fatwa and no law force you to take any fatwa.
it the fatwa has no base we reject it.
best thing about islam, we dont follow sheikhs blindly like christanity follow their preists.

you have been told the romantic version of salafism, not the full saudi version. in saudi arabia, slavery of muslim blacks was banned due to pressures from the united nations.Warsan_Star_Muslimah wrote:maxa la yaabsanahay. When did a countries constitution rival with the wordings of Wikipedia?![]()

Hyper,
OK. Wa run tahay.
I am aware of what the constitution says. Now, please read what I wrote. The Sudanese government has never enforced this law. The de facto law in the Sudanese courts is Shariica, with a Takfiiri twist. The slave markets remain open.

saudis practised slavery till 1970's this a fact and they are not not somali slaves but indebted muslim slaves. what islam says about slavery and what muslims do are 2 different things.
