The majority of people are against alshabab, not because they force women to wear niqab, but because they believe that by blowing themselves up along with innocent people with take them to jannah. And even if some people are in doubt as to wether they did this attack, there's no hiding the fact that they have already done this in beledweyn, hargeisa and bosaso.

If people here think that a bunch of homicidal, qaat chewing thugs with a Messiah complex are fit to dictate your religion to you, and this is preferable to the status quo, then you are being hopelessly niave. I get where Surrender is coming from too though. While no doubt Al Shabaab do commit atrocious acts, not everything that is attributed to them is of veracity. I don't think they're after a totalitarian state, I read some crazy b.s about them banning women wearing bras ( I wonder how that would be enforced ) and I don't buy it. They're just in it for their own agendas.

However, in saying I don't believe Al Shabaab are exemplifying true Islam not only because their acts suggest they interpretation of Islam is twisted, but because foreign intervention would endeavour for it to suffer the same fate UIC did.

Speaking of Bi-polar disorder. It turns out even kids as young as 4 years old exhibit signs of it. I recently attended a lecture by a pediatric psychologist on campus and boy was I in for a major surprise. Apparently its always been the case, but was always misdiagnosed due to the DSM-IV-TR criteria for Bipolar Disorder. ADHD, PBD, and PTSD are all found in kids, but emphasis is usually placed on ADHD & PTSD, rarely on PBD.

We need to seriously invest in psychology in Somalia, even in early childhood. No wonder we're pretty much a fucked country.
