Learn how to tune out the insults..but remain a good daughter...When your mom says you are "caasi" cus u didn't wash the dishes, just picture her naked shopping in Suuqa bakaaraha and laugh hysterically..That ought to make her scared and keep her off your back for a while..True and tested, sis...And when your dad aks you to heat up the "boorash", tell him to look up the word "Patricide" in the Assaasi: somali-english dictionary. Life is easy, my sister. Don't let unruly parents ruin it. :)

PS. Never ever agree to a vacation in Kenya, Somalia, Egypt, or Yemen. These countries are known breeding grounds for "cultural rehabilitation" centers.

PPS. Read about the Menendez Brothers. Good role-models.

Are both of your parents from Mudug? Not only born there, but raised there as well?

If both parents from mudug, then this girl has no hope of ever surviving, let alone developing a self-esteem...Better start googling shelters...

And i'd never suggest you do, honey. I just said it was an option. You don;t have to use all of your options. Now, have you considered bringing home a white man? That ought to make them love you...They will start asking where they went wrong and you will have found an opportunity to air out your grievances? no? Another tested and true option. I used it after they kept insisting i stop setting neighborhood cats on fire.
