We had this Somali dude at our college that became one of Jesus People. It was annoying because if you gonna change your religion, why change it to Christianity? A religion that glorifies a father murdering his only son? I never got this.

What is wrong with Christians proselytizing? Muslims do worse things to convert others. In Egypt, for instance, Muslims kidnap and sometimes rape young girls in attempt to force their families to convert. In Pakistan it is even worse. At least these Christians aren't killing or coercing these Somalis into converting to Christianity.

As a murtad, I will never advice any Somali to substitute their current false and superstitious believes for Christian ones.

I think they should be respected what ever they believe , As long as they dont insult the deen its fine with me i heard Family micheal maryama his grandkids went also back home few years back.

Noone really disrespects them as such, but they wont refer to them as somalis, nor do the socialise with them, nor do they involve them in community issues.

people have choice, but they dont always have the material means to live or to get by in this materialistic dunya.

i dont think there are any Somali people who are born into christianity, so those Somali christians talked about are either ensnared victims such as poor people orphans etc and they probably extremely reluctant and dont believe it in their heart.

what saddened me the most upon this news was when i realised that in the vast number of poor Somalis and the ever increasing number of orphans, there can come to be a significant percentage of christians converts. This will happen ultimately because even if the Muslim parents are steadfast in their religion, children will grow up in a weak poor community and thus more suceptable to the luring of missionaries.

its sad, it makes me want to pay Sadaqo more and actually consider adopting.

I find it strange for Somalis converting to Christianity but you know one thing The prophet PBUH used to seek refuge from Allah from Faqri(mind you not maskin as the prophet used to pray to be raised as maskin in the day of Judgement so as to be among the 1st to go to paradise).

But if poverty keeps on raising and Islamic fanatics still reign terror on the Muslims without showing Raxma then Christian missionaries will get the upper hand.

In Ethiopia the christian missionaries are working 24/7 trying to convert Oromo muslims to christianity while in Kenya the Borana community, the Gabbra nad the Ajuran are also facing the same kind of Christian influence.

These people aren't converting because they'e 'seen the light' whatever the fuck that means but rather because they're starving and will listen to and follow whoever is putting food on their table. Therein lies the problem, Muslims are disproportionately poor and less educated.
