the real reason they left is:
1) diplomacy tfg & maxaakiim joining together
2) us election, no more warmonger in whitehouse
3) ofcourse also they are very unpopular in the country, and met fierce resistance

the resistance(from hutus) did not made ethiopia leave, though it was one of the factors. the major blast came from the diplomacy efforts in djibouti.


If you say alshabab defeated them, then certaintly they would not run away from them in ceelbarde or hiiraan region.
if they really defeated a army of 50.000 manpower with tanks and helicopters, then a 5.000 bantu soldiers would be a piece of cake for shabab.
