Scenario:

A 'President' of a nation that is not recognised by the world claims some land that's inhabited by the same clan as that of another region (who also claim that land) but the only difference is that the 'President' of the unrecognised region has his country flag flying high everywhere and the pirate enclave is kept at arms length.

At the same time, members from this pirate enclave call the inhabitants of the unrecognised region 'weak' for having a 'minority' as a leader. The same 'minority' leader made one leader from the pirate enclave, also a former petrol station worker, run to garowe and promised to 'liberate' the same region within '30 days', not to mention that the '30 days' have expired 2 years and 7 months ago. In addition, this 'minority' leader is keeping their current leader, a former tax driver, contained in 3 gobols of their pirate enclave.

Wouldn't you just 'root' for your worst nightmare just incase he actually 'lost' in the election so that you couldn't be 'dissapointed' as you 'prepared' for the worst?

Cali_Gaab stop the naag talk. In the real game of Politics you are an isolated issue locally and Internationally. You have no card to play and the game continues. Your leaders will go down in history has committing Political suicide. Somaliland is an unrecognized country so it has no say nor existence on the International level. Domestically you have cut yourself off from the rest of Somalia, and lack of real change or progress in your society is leading to frustration and desperation for attention which explains your latest moves. In other words your own actions has blockade you from making any moves and iidoors are suffocating politically.

Your leaders are so out of touch trying to use pointless expired borders to justify one's argument, what's the point it doesnt work today. We live in 2010 not 1950 and I think the old dogs needs to update their political skills. Today we dont have British and Italians in Somalia but we Have U.N and A.U watchdogs monitoring our politics.

The A.U and U.N are very clear in regards to their position of territory. The A.U stipulates any nation to be born today needs to be negotiated between people residing in that border.

For example Southern Sudan who is going towards having a referendum only got that choice because of the ceasefire they signed with Khartoum. Hence without Khartoum authorizing the referendum South Sudan would not be holding a referendum today. This is done to maintain territorial integrity of every members border within the A.U

The same deal occurred with Eritrea who didn't use colonial borders to justify their secession but had to negotiate with Addis Ababa. They got the right to hold a referendum after Ethiopia authorized it.

Colonial borders doesn't justify secession today its as simple as that or else Eritrea and South Sudan wouldn't go to Addis Ababa/Khartoum to get their signature to allow a referendum to occur.

That is why no politician within Somalia finds Somaliland threats to be scary because everyone knows it won't go anywhere. No point using Kosovo/Taiwan and all these other counties as rebuttal to secession because these other countries lie outside the A.U control and therefore are not subject to it.

In Conclusion Somaliland and it's people are the ones who are going to lose the most when the dust settles.

Somaliland locked itself in a cage in the 90s because of Fear from the boys in the South. You have lost your key to open that cage because the political objective was never clear. A few Somali towns the shape of an Triangle declaring independence from Somalia was a Corny joke that didn't return any laughs.
