Ethiopia itself is in a very weak position and unless someone is willing to sponsor there campaign in the same mannner as the 2006 war, I doubt they will venture beyond border regions.If they did recieve that support, It would bedifficult to see how it would be different to the 2006 conflict.Al-shabab will make a tactical retreat and launch a guerilla campaign.Assymetrical warfare would take place and the situation in the south would be no different, with Ethiopian troops positioned in there bases and shelling the city in response to any threat or attack.Much of the same of what AMISOM is doing.Al-shabab would take advantage of the presence of Ethiopian troops to recruit and justify there cause.Meanwhile you will have a weak Transitional goverment and a few headless chickens in the form of Goverment militias exerting no influence.

It'd be better if Ethiopia just collapsed and their army split and they had a crisis.

What is needed is a new leader who will invest heavily in establishing in a capable strong junta and paying the salaries of government troops instead of stealing from them.

I think that man is General Mohamed Gelle, former TFG Army Chief of Staff. He is a very honest and upstanding man whom I had the pleasure of meeting.

The new leader must be very aggressive with Shabab and its supporters:

1. Seize all assets of Shabab supporters and liquidate them to fund the government forces.

2. Arrest all SHabab supporters.

3. Order the US navy to close off Kismayo's port and order all planes flying into Somalia to land solely at government held airfields.

4. Execute all those TFG members who are found supporting the enemies on charges of treason.

Why are you not supporting them if they return sxb? You supported them when they first entered and we know you were their biggest cheerleader here when they first entered but why not now? Is it because of the fact that they massacred so many of your DACAS people whom like you also supported them?
