It happened in my life where girls initiated first date, but not they said strait forward, it was like “mahdi you are a funny guy, I like your stories give me call tonight I am waiting” something that gives the guy a hint, So give the dude some hints first, this will give you the chance to know if that particular guy is interested you, and if he is, he will call you and you will have the opportunity to learn more about each other and whether there is a chance to devolop it, and that is the best way to approach potential dates, same way that men who are interested you will approach you,

Both Islam and the Somali culture expect certain behaviors from girls, remember good men that are looking for wifey type, are interested only girls that show modest, even if you are not that one, pretend like one for the first few months and then explain him things in honest way, by that time he will learn more about your other personal values and will be more likely to compromise with your freak side

reality: girls do ask guys out. indirectly most of the time, however.
