I am a sunni muslim. I don't go into schools and different sects as I believe you shouldn't try to differentiate between muslims.

But I have never heard of stong sunni muslim celebrating Prothet Muhammad(PBUH) Birthday

Leave him. May Allah guide him towards love for prophet Muhammad pbuh.
Well if the love for rasulluallah is defined by celebrating his birth then congratulations you love him not only more than I but even the saxaaba

Did the prophet (saw) celebrate his birthday when he was alive?
No he simply fasted

I fail to see how they can put off Christmas as a pagan tradition but in the same tongue accept Mowliid

True, It just amazes me how he thinks he loves the prophet more than the companion and his family. who never celebrated mowlid. Subxanallah

If he did that then the sunnah is to fast surely and not make a song and dance out of it. I don't see how anyone can suggest otherwise.

The problem with the Mawlid is that it has been made a prescribed Islamic activity by some Muslims. On that night, and only that night, you will see horders of people coming to the Masjid to remember Rasulullah Saws. What about the other days of the year? And how about all the Unislamic things that happen at these mawlid events? You cannot make something that the prophet saws or his Sahabah did not legislate, a prescribed event. It cannot be considered sunnah.

In short, the problem with Mawlid is the way some Sunnis prescribe and fixate around it, as if its part of our religion. It isn't that important. You would be better off playing nawaafil prayer than celebrating mawlid on the 12th of Rabi Awwal. Remember the prophet saws every day, and not only on some auspicious day that might not even be his birth date.
