^ what did i state that was a "theory"? most of the people in bosaso depend on the port ( fact), the port is less active during the summer due to rough seas ( fact), the fishing industry is also less active during the summer due to the rough seas ( fact), there is no school during this period ( fact), most of the people who leave bosaso during this period are the women and the children ( fact). as for the weather, it is highly exaggerated and it's on par with the weather in berbera and djibouti. there's no way it can be the main reason or the sole reason for the migration. i grew up in a city where the temperature went from -33 in the winter( not including the windchill) to 33 in the summer ( not including humidity) and i was able to tolerate 45 C weather without an air con. for several weeks perfectly fine so i don't see how someone who was born and raised in somalia and is accustom to that type of weather would find it "unbearable".

let's just say that qardho is one of the poor communities in puntland, has zero yearly homicides, and has a population of 60-70 k. how in the world is the city/district the 2nd largest recipient of remittance? and after burtinle of all places? one would think since bosaso has over 5 times the population of qardho, it would be the largest recipient of remittance and galkacyo the 2nd. :? if waryaa meant the 2nd largest recipient of remittance in all somalia than was definitely under the influence of the mighty leaf when he wrote that.

seriously what has the port to do with anything..people dont import in the summer?? i dont get that..fishing is not main financial market in bosaso..reer bari are not really the sushi-fanatics of somalia, that title goes to southern coastal cities
dude the main reason is the weather..there is no city in somalia that has the same extreme weather without a breeze of a lush wind during the summer
berbera doesnt have that large population, and those who live in berbera are the original people of that city unlike bosasso, where more then half of that city are originally from the south, harti peepz from kismaayo xamar jamaame balcad baladweyne..
there is a village called ' Carmo' around 100 kilometers south of bosasso that will overtake qardho and garowe in terms size in the near future, bosasso people are building second homes with serious dedication..and its not because fish run out of the indian ocean
djibouti people dont have many options to choose from,..where are they gonna go? PARIS????

did u grow up in outer space?...
about the remittance i agree with you..there is no way qardho comes in top 4 in puntland. let alone burtinle where there are more goats then people..{and thats my hometown in puntland, kismaayo being my hometown in somalia}

waryaa/whitehartlane, you're stating your opinion not facts. fishing is one of the 4 main sectors in PL and the fishing industry brings in millions of dollars. if you don't know that the port is less active during the summer because of the rough seas than i don't know why you're even discussing this with me. :? google is your friend.

lol! gemini. Have u ever been to Qardo? Have u ever heard the term Qardho iyo aakhiro waa loo shaqestaa? I can tell you Qardho is belly up and dead broke. And yes, ONLY Burtinle gets more welfare from abroad than this town. I could explain it to you but you your mind is preset to a certain belief and whatever I tell you won't make any difference. On the other hand Bosaso is one of the richest places in all Africa. It has sooooooooo many factories, it i a major commercial hub between middle east and most of Somalia. I can tell you wll never come across a city this busy in Somalia.

I think Qardo will see more summer campers this year since Mudug is in in the red and many Reer Mudugs decided to settle there for the summer. For your info, Qardho is mismanaged sooooooooooooooooooooo bad travelers don't stop there and spend some of their cash. People go through it like a dark tunnel. Instead of being defensive reer Qardo, come up with a way to attract people and business. Yes, it has potential.

Why did this karkaar province came to existence? Qardho could not carry its weight and needed to get more government welfare. Then it was upgraded to a provincial capital with more budget.

Private employers in Qardho: Golis/Barkaat.

Fyi, Bosaso, Eyl, Erigabo and Garowe, etc students used to go to Qardho for high school in the past. It was once the most prominent city in in this region. Things changed and it lost that lead a long time ago.

mystic, I spend most of my leisure time studying and trying to understand a lot of things about this region. Reality is always undermined by pride and ignorance.

Gamini ever been to Qardo in your adulthood? How many full-time employees do you know in this town?
