But walahi, I feel I do not want to have children. I do not see myself bringing up children for such a long time( another 18 years).

but at the sametime somalida would look at you differently. I saw them feeling sorry for childless old people.
religiously, it is not must that you have children and frankly it is all up to you. however, culturally a lot might view your decision as suspicious or what not but at the end of the day only your choice counts.

with that, however, i have a question: how would you find a man willing not to have children in somali society?

good luck, tho.

The thread way i dhaaftey in badan, thanks to you all.

Children are future investament? may be, but you cannot guarantee how they would turn out. I have seen all sort of people/human being (somalis from soamlia or anywhere) who treated their parents awfully. I even know three women ( in their 30's and late 40's now) whose mothers died in alone in Kenya and Ethiopia while they were brining up their children here in the UK. I was shocked to hear that.
yes, beacsue I am a woman my today's decision can be irreversible.
The question about how would I find a somali man who does not want children? that is difficult. I always put the question of not wanting to have children on the table and they try to change me. ah ...even not Somalis tried to change me.

I used to. Now, I don't see myself as a father. Perhaps that view will change in 5 or so years.

Yes, but you are a man. Your decision can be reversible. But still good to have children when you are still young( if you are going to have them).
