I've been trying to remind myself to call my habaryar (late mother's only surviving sibling) for weeks now to no avail.

Don't feel like talking to anyone and living alone helps me not deal with family drama.

Between school and sleep, no time for much else.

If they don't try, why should I? Don't care. Already have trouble keeping in contact with friends who, for some reason, want me around.

^ True. Probably worse scenarios out there.

Question to all nomads: any of you actively contact relatives that live overseas and have never met? (apart from the ones back home). I never really know what to say to strangers. Those conversations are awkward!

Altho i get discouraged,i always had one Sunday afternoon in the month for qaraabo qansax 5 min phone marathon. Of course it's hard because some will act as if you are somehow getting paid doing it so but it has to be done. There are three types of people: Those who keep in touch with their relatives regardless of whether it goes both ways, those who keep in touch only with those who keep in touch with them and those don't keep in touch at all. Most of us are the middle option which is better than the last one.
Good for u runtii.

Haddi aan inta familka ah hubiyo ayaan nasiib leyahay, the rest can follow.

Being Somali and introvert is the worst combo to ever have.
