This is more of an African problem rather than a Somali one.

I personally found Addis Ababa to be more disgusting and filthy. Somalis are not the worst

So, in other words, it is okay for us Skinnies to be disgusting and filthy as long as we are less so then the Ethiopians? Very logical to me. Anyways, never been to Addis myself to vouch for the extend of their relative filthiness though I have heard stories similar to yours . I did however return from Somalia recently, and after crisscrossing most of the country for months, from Boosaaso to Mogadishu and points in between including Eyl, Garowe, Gaalkacyo, and many other little known villages, one thing I have noticed they all have in common is that they are, for all intents and purposes nothing but massive land fills. And though the lack of government institutions may have played minor role in this, at the end of the day, it is the society that should bear the bulk of the blame; the undeniable truth is that we Skinnies brought about this on our own. It is said reality bites and if that is the case what I am about to utter will devour: We Somalis are inherently dirty, lazy, uninspiring bunch, no ifs or buts about it. Of course, we have always the option of obstinately ignoring the facts as it relates to us and by burying our heads in the sand, pretend we are the proudest, the most intelligent, and indeed the most refined single race on the face of the earth.

Xiinow, have you been to Xamar lately? If you have, you would have been hard pressed to refute what Fah's dad has said. I was there for a month from April to May, and I can confirm from first hand experience that there are areas in the capital where taking baths with sea water is very much the norm. Now, this is not to suggest that all Xamar residents use sea water to clean themselves; no, it is just some specific areas that do.
