How are these people viewed within Oromo society? They can't fully assimilate because of the tribal based societies, right? Are they outsiders? Are there any intermarriages?

Re: Somali people speaking strange language
The Gurgura are welcomed into the Afran Qallo Clan. We've been intermarrying, trading, interacting for many generations. They are welcomed into cultural groups and pretty much anything Oromo. Heck Half the Oromo community here in the city I'm living are Gurguras.

Where am I claiming the Gurguras? I said we Oromos welcome Gurguras as our brothers.
Armaan, Do you know afaan Oromo?
This is none other then Oromo being spoken in the Borana dialect. No need in being ignorant and claiming random facts.
Who cares if you hate Oromos, this is the language a lot of Garre in Ethiopia speak.

They have been assimilated into Dir but not completely. They are bilingual in most cases, speaking both Oromo and Somali. It would make for a great sociological study.
Do you know of any cases where Somali clans inhabiting close to the Oromo border are getting integrated into Oromo society?St8OuttaDirree wrote:Where am I claiming the Gurguras? I said we Oromos welcome Gurguras as our brothers.

No. it's usually the other way round. Many Jaarso Oromos, some Arsi bordering the Ogaaden etc...Insomniac wrote:Do you know of any cases where Somali clans inhabiting close to the Oromo border are getting integrated into Oromo society?
The Somalis usually tend to be bilingual and do business while the Oromos intergrate into the Somali society and at times, take clan names.
