The majority of Somalis back home are still predominantly Shafici.The problem is when they came abroad and are exposed to other madhabs is when they get confused.I remembet once this girl complaining every time I go to the local Pakistani shop with wudu.I try and hand over the money with contact.He doesn't seem to understand and I have to whip my hand away.I told her Pakistanis are mainly Hanafis and according to their madhab.Skin contact doesn't ruin their wudu.She assumed that that particular Shafici ruling was universal in the Muslim world

When I was young, I went to a Libyan mosque and I was the odd one out. During the sijuud, I was the only one who put his hands on the knees. I think they practise Hanafi.

I went to a shia mosque years later and I found that they do that too.

Wahabbism, Salafi, or whatever you wanna call don't really follow a madhab. The one closes if they did would be Hannbali, but for the most part, they've left the tradition of a madhab and kind of jump around.

I do the nawayta farla salaat, and raise the finger during atahyatu (thought that was universal)

The subcontinent (Pakistani, Indian, Bengali) are Hanafi, which i guess makes them the largest madhab.
