its funny that the only reason we have the culture, language, or facial features we have TODAY was because our ancestors mixed with different peoples. nothing about Somalis has been static or the same. all throughout our history we've moved from place to place and fucked with the groups we encountered. if anything the current situation in the diaspora is perfectly consistent with somali history in general.TheMailMan wrote:And THIS is why I'm against Somalis marrying into other races. This is first time foreigners met a group of people like this. Remember, other groups tended to be servile. While the Somali was always on top no matter what. And were dubious and unpredictable to foreigners. Somalis if united ideological for a cause are a formidable threat. I'm certain Somalis would have stretched well past Kenya and Ethiopia if it wasn't for British meddling.
I want our culture, language, facial features.... to be preserved for as long as possible.
The Somalis are a unique people. And we are few in number. We need to recognize our uniqueness and preserve it by any means necessary. Somalia belongs to the Somali people and should stay free from any foreign influence.
I'm talking about the Somalis back home, not the Somalis in the diaspora. Focus on the topic here and stop getting out of hand.MaliPrince wrote:its funny that the only reason we have the culture, language, or facial features we have TODAY was because our ancestors mixed with different peoples. nothing about Somalis has been static or the same. all throughout our history we've moved from place to place and fucked with the groups we encountered. if anything the current situation in the diaspora is perfectly consistent with somali history in general.TheMailMan wrote:And THIS is why I'm against Somalis marrying into other races. also these clowns are selective about which white man they quote. you'll never see quotes from Sir Richard Burton calling our people animals and simple minded children.ZubeirAwal wrote:Many people sneak dissin' saying that I recall the bravery of Somalis only if the White man says so, I just found this and I thought it to be interesting reading upon the opinions of what was then the world hegemony

Trust me Burton wasn't our cup of tea either. He was left for dead by Somalis.ZubeirAwal wrote:Af somali maad ku hadasha? hadaad ku hadli kartid bal wax soo qor, hal kalimad ha soo qorin ee line yar oo an fahmeyno bal soo qorMaliPrince wrote:also these clowns are selective about which white man they quote. you'll never see quotes from Sir Richard Burton calling our people animals and simple minded children.ZubeirAwal wrote:Many people sneak dissin' saying that I recall the bravery of Somalis only if the White man says so, I just found this and I thought it to be interesting reading upon the opinions of what was then the world hegemony
I still don't like that English spy. I take his slanted writing with a grain of salt.Lancer wrote:Burton's book is interesting. It told us about how Somalis back then acted, what they wore, clan relations, clan borders etc.
What's the book titled? I wouldn't mind readingsophisticate wrote:I still don't like that English spy. I take his slanted writing with a grain of salt.Lancer wrote:Burton's book is interesting. It told us about how Somalis back then acted, what they wore, clan relations, clan borders etc.
What slanted writing are you talking about? I haven't finished reading the whole book yet so I might have missed something.sophisticate wrote:I still don't like that English spy.
