I support our government's actions, the only issue i have is with the lack of post eviction care [ transport, compensation and accomodation should have been offered to them.]
The only ones arguing for the permanency of this abnormal situation are those greedy Ngos who only see our people as cash cows, as evidenced by that report they hurriedly put together after our governments move . They are furious because no idps = no funding = no jet set lifestyle. Also not all who are in these camps are refugees or internally displaced people. My cousin who comes from a peaceful part of Somalia was advised [God knows by whom] to go to Dadaab to register as a refugee. No one is begrudging people for seeking a better life we're all refugees, i just don't want my people lied to and told they have to rot and raise their children & womenfolk amongst rapists, thieves, etc until such a time comes when the powers that be decide what they will do with them. That decision might come in 5 years,15, 30 or never as is increasingly the case. If you do leave the camp you will not be considered a refugee any more. It's all false hopes and blatant lies. My cousin is back in Somalia now last i heard alhamdullilah.
